Saints Dress-Down 11/30/09

To celebrate the Saints and their 10-0 start to the season, we will have a free dress-down day on Monday, Nov. 30. Students may wear Saints shirts, T-shirts, or black and gold shirts; "decent" jeans; and their school shoes.

LHS Visitation Day

Friday, October 9, is LHS visitation day. From 9:30-1:30 students visit classrooms and learn about Lutheran High. Any prospective students are encouraged to call the school office to register your child.

Homecoming 2009

This year's Homecoming football game is set for Friday, September 11, starting at 7:00pm. Come cheer on the Gryphons as they play Ascension Episcopal at Jefferson Playground field. Halftime events include the announcement of Homecoming court, as well as a routine performed by the cheerleaders. Friends, family, and alumni are welcome to attend!

On Saturday, September 12, the Homecoming dance will take place. This year's theme is "Waking Up in Vegas." The dance is from 8-11pm at the Holiday Inn Downtown-Superdome. All LHS students are invited to attend. If you are bringing a non-LHS student as a date, please fill out a guest pass form asap. Tickets for the dance will go on sale the week of the dance.

Students will also be participating in class activities during the week, including the traditional hallway decorating contest. Make sure to come on Wednesday, September 9, for the first PTL meeting and see the students work firsthand. Also on Friday, September 11, students will participate in a pep rally. This includes a class competition, annoucement of players and court, and cheers led by the cheerleaders.

Evacuation Information

In order to keep in contact with our school families, if an evacuation order is given, I am giving you this relevant information to be placed in your evacuation kit:

When you arrive at your safe destination and after calling family and friends to let them know your status and whereabouts, please call my cell phone (317) 525-8946 or Calvary Lutheran Church (317) 783-2000 and leave your name and phone number you can be reached. We would like to hear from every family, and the church will be manning the phones 24 hours a day for us.

If a computer is available you may email me through Calvary Lutheran Church. Simply go to www.clcs.org and click on "Hurricane Evacuation." Please leave the indicated information. Also we will have them post the latest information concerning the reopening of school.

More Schedule Changes

The boys basketball game on Friday, January 16 at Patrick Taylor originally scheduled for 7pm has been pushed up to 4:30pm due to a lack of available officials at the later start time. Patrick Taylor is using Mt. Olive Lutheran for their home gym.

The soccer game on Saturday, January 17 at Country Day originally scheduled for noon has been moved to 3pm.

Sports Schedule Revisions for Week of 1/12/09

The girls basketball game on Tuesday, January 13 at Northlake Christian originally scheduled for 6pm has been moved to 5pm.

The soccer game on Wednesday, January 14 against Fisher at LaSalle originally scheduled for 3:30pm has been moved to 4:30pm.

The girls basketball game on Friday, January 16 at Sacred Heart at 5pm has been moved to Thursday, January 15 at 5pm due to lack of officials available on Friday.

Drama Performance of Harvey

Do you believe in Pookas? LHS's theater department will present "Harvey" on Saturday, February 7th and Sunday, February 8th in the gymnasium of Atonement Lutheran Church and School (6500 Riverside Dr., Metairie. Saturday will include a dinner at 6pm (by Chef John Heine), with the show to follow at 7pm. Sunday evening's show will begin at 7pm, and desserts will be sold during intermission. Ticket prices are as follows:
